Captain Brian Tracey
About 31 years ago, when the club went from 9 to 18 holes, Brian was interviewed by Michael Gleeson and reckons his admission to Wicklow Golf Club was based on his being employed by The Post and Telegraphs. His perfect day at the club is a Monday or Friday, on a warm sunny morning, out with our juniors making their experience in the game of golf a better one. If time allows he will take a trip out to the 14th tee box, where there's a nice seat, to contemplate and have a look up along the coast towards his hometown of Bray.
Captain Brian has had the privilege to represent the club on many teams over the years, as a player and a manager, with the most notable achievement being a team member of Provincial Towns Cup in 2016 and the Fred Perry Cup in 2022.
While Brian says there are quite a few holes to pick from he would have to favour our 2nd, one of the best par 4’s on our course, it can vary so much depending on the wind direction, on in two and your doing well, knowing the real golfer has to do his magic on a very quick green. Brian and his Scotty Cameron putter have had some memorable rounds and when it's on form you may look out.
Captain Brian would encourage all members to get involved in our club in any way possible to make a difference, it is with your help that we achieve better things for our club on a daily basis.
From being Super Mario to the Juniors in 2025, Brian promises to be Super Captain for all in 2026.
