The meeting was opened by approving and seconding the previous meetings minutes no matters arising. Update on carried forward tasks were discussed and closed as applicable.
Bereavement
Condolences were expressed to members Liz Cuddihy on the death of her sister, Christine (Deeny) Doyle on the death of her brother and Siobhain Munnelly on the death of her father.
Competitions Internal
18 Hole Competitions resumed at the beginning of April and will count for handicap purposes.
There will be 5 qualifying competitions for the Ballycurry Cup on the following Wednesdays:
· 8th April
· 15th April
· 22nd April
· 20th May
· 3rd June
WhatsApp was sent out explaining the terms and conditions of these competitions and are also outlined in the Women’s Competitions and General Inforfmation manual displayed in the locker room and within the members section of the website.
Interclub Competitions
All team manager positions have now been filled, and again we express our gratitude to those who have stepped up to take on these roles. We wish all our managers and teams the best of luck as they begin their Interclub campaign for 2026.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible come out to support our teams, especially for home matches.
Afternoon Tea
The annual Pink Afternoon Tea fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, April 28th. The afternoon tea cost is €25 per person. Payment to be sent to Carole Carty via WhatsApp.
We express our thanks to Doreen Mc Gettigan , Rosemary Kavanagh and their very capable and dedicated team for their continued commitment to this annual event. We are confident that the attention to detail by the team will ensure that everything will go well on the day,
BRS booking for the Annual “Play in Pink” on Bank Holiday Monday May 4th is now open and we look forward to seeing you all adorned in your Pink outfits on the day. Your support for the Golf Scramble, the raffle, and the auction will be greatly appreciated. As well as being a very successful fundraiser, this is always a fun day and not to be missed. Who knows what surprises might unfold!!

Get into Golf
GIG’s first programme with Dylan Graham is now sold out and will commence on Tuesday, April 28th. Dylan is looking at running a second course immediately after the first course and already has 5 potential attendees for this second course. Good luck to Dylan with his first GIGs Programme at Wicklow Golf Club.

Dylan Graham, our new Pro, is planning to start a women’s GIGs programme on Tuesday 28th April for 7 weeks. Sessions will take place from 6pm to 7pm. He plans to accommodate 10 people. Sessions will be divided between the club and the range.
Sponsorship
Our April Monthly Medal, the first of the season on the 29th of April, will be sponsored by “An Tairseach”.
Many thanks to our 2025 Captain Paula for securing this sponsorship for us. We encourage our members to support this event and forget the fact that it will be a strokes competition. Both the 18 hole and 9-hole competitions will be strokes on 29th April, to familarise everyone with this format.
We also look forward to seeing you at the presentation on the night as we also hope to welcome a representative of “An Tairseach”.
Social Events
Our first presentation night of the season was enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to Alex De Silva for putting through our paces with a great selection of warm up exercises which will be of benefit to us not just for golf but for mobility in general. This was followed by the presentation to the winners of the Spring Weekend League and to the winners of the various Wednesday team events.
Ryder Cup.
A first for Wicklow Golf Club. Captain Debbie is introducing a Ryder Cup Competition on 3 Friday evenings on the back 9. This will consist of 2 teams’ competing against each other with roll over scores. Two volunteers are required to act as Blue and White Team Captains to run each of their teams playing order which will be chosen by a draw. The dates of the competitions are: 17th April Fourball better ball) 24th April (Foursomes), 22nd May – (Singles). Food will be available after these matches. We look forward to seeing how popular this competition is and whether we continue with this competition in future years.
