Junior Captain 2026 - Elena Scanlan

Elena Scanlan has been a member of Wicklow Golf Club since she was 10. Her favourite club is her pitching wedge and her favourite hole is 9th as its a nice distance. The golfer Elena admires the most is Bryson DeChambeau because when she was younger she was very strong but couldn’t always control her swing and Bryson is known for his strength so she took inspiration from him especially on drives. 

Elenas' advise to young golfers "you will have good days and bad days but you can learn from both, you just need to work on your mentality and choose specific things to work on during a round or by going to the driving range". Elena would encourage as many girls as possible to play golf, it is a sport for everyone and the more females that join the more friends can be made to share knowledge and learn from. Elenas' message to all, please encourage any girls in your family to think about taking up golf, its fun and you get to spend time out in the fresh air.
